Church Counselling website advice

Big on Hosting. Unlimited Space & Unlimited Bandwidth

Hi all, I help update our churches website each week by adding the podcasts of the services, prayer lists, updated info etc. this I am happy to do as it is within my limited capability on web design and programming. The issue is as a church we have an idea that is growing in scope and complexity. To put it simply I have been tasked with building a website that would include all of the following aspects:

  • live chat portal offering free Christian counselling 24/7
  • self help directory fully indexed by both subject and bible verses
  • forum for people to meet one another and offer each other support and friendship
  • Daily devotional page that can update automatically from database
  • weekly and monthly newsletters aimed at either supporters and counsellors or general members who use the site
  • multi layered membership so supporters have their own area and general free members have their area
  • along with more simple things such as contact forms, mission statement, T&C etc.

Our church is a free Methodist church and we are looking to use members of other churches throughout the UK, USA, Canada etc. to help ensure the counselling is available 24/7 and also should the person desire a local contact we would seek out a local church of Their religious denomination to offer that help. For the future it is hoped that when people seeking the help need some kind of intervention as a matter of urgency such as to escape an abusive home with young children and it has been verified as a genuine case locally the funds would be there to pay for the accommodation and needs in the short term until a more suitable solution than paying for hotels can be sorted with the help of their local church and local authorities whom may very well have dedicated teams to assist.

This among many other ideas the team have talked about adding in the future. So we are able to help as many people as need help and guidance. Yet to do this, first I must be humble and seek the help of this fine community and hope someone is willing to help me do Gods work.

Yet try as I might I am unable to make the software (Adobe Master Collection CS5.5) we were given work for me to deliver anywhere near a good enough site. Not that the software is at fault but I am just way beyond my ability here and unable to find a low cost web host who offers any descent templates with membership capabilities and scope to cover everything we desire in the site I thought if I reach out to the people who are far wiser than I in this matter I may gain some much needed direction and assistance. I have until Easter 2014 to build the site, and once approved by the church council update information on the site, and do all testing before it goes live. To update our current site that is very basic with no membership or any complicated additions I use Dreamweaver to simply open the server and review each page adding in the latest podcast, or update and the old one is placed in directory files.

If you have any help, advice, Templates that I could use on Dreamweaver that already have membership built in I would be so grateful. May God bless you for reading this and the time and expertise you are willing to share in this good cause.
