Cpanel Addon Requirements – Could this be new?

Using nameservers with the following IPs: 174.36.198.73,74.86.9.53 Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

Pending confirmation, it seems we can no longer create addon domains without having the domain’s dns records point to the host first. With this requirement, there will be a 100% chance of downtime when I move websites. I am 99% sure this requirement was only added recently, because over the last 3 years I have always created addon domains first and then updated DNS at my registrar.

I have asked in a support ticket twice if this is a new requirement, and the question has been ignored twice. The most recent reply was that I needed to change where a different domain at the reseller-level was pointed to, but I already have it pointed to another reseller account. More going around in circles, when the point still being ignored is – If it has worked for years, why is this a problem now?.

This afternoon has been a waste of hours at work. Since I haven’t gotten a clear answer I have been left to google searches and speculation.

So my question to readers, are hosts beginning to turn on this addon domain prerequisite?
