I have extremely basic question regarding hosting. I am going to first explain what I have understood and ask you for further information. This question can also be a quick guide for beginners for future reference.
I have heard about shared hosting and dedicated hosting. The difference between them both is that shared hosting has very less space compared to the dedicated hosting and in dedicated hosting I could do a lot more compared to shared hosting.[Individual-apartment house analogy].
What are shared SSL ? I know what an SSL is, but does it mean the same? (I go to host gator.in and I could see three options which has shared SSL, and private SSL, I want to know the difference)
In hostgator.in, like I mentioned above there are three options, its about $5 to $15 max, but it says UNLIMITED diskspace, bandwidth and domain. How is that possible?
Now VPS hosting is a different option, what is that? Is it better than shared but not that better compared to dedicated? I understood , but on what scale does it affect? I need practical examples is to what sites can be hosted on what type.
AWS and digitalocean are cloud based hosting. Are they the same compared to normal hosting ? These do not operate through Cpanel is it? If they are, what are the difference? Is it just that the cloud providers have different console or they can also use Cpanel? (please bare if the questions are too stupid)
I was planning to write a blog using ghost and host it through either ghost host platform itself or using digitalocean. While I saw few tutorials online is to how to host it on a digitalocean, there seem to be options called ‘Ghost ….’. I understand that digitalocean(or ghost) is helping us host it without any backend just like any CMS do. But if I subscribe to digitalocean, is it possible for me to do manual hosting like add my own scripts etc?.
Is digitalOcean a normal hosting provider just like godaddy, bigrock and hostgator. Because I am learning web framerwork and planning to implement my own website soon manually.
And please tell me the difference between aws/digitalocean control panel and Cpanel? Does cloud based hosting use Cpanel?
Please bare the stupidity level and answer the questions above, I am sure many clueless people like me can use your well constructed answer and get a clear picture.
