One of our reseller hosts has decided to disallow unencrypted communication for POP3/IMAP and SMTP, and they are using a self signed certificate to implement this.
This is causing some problems,
We will need to update our users email clients with new port numbers and they will see a warning message when they reconfigure their clients.
Also gmail pop3 fetcher only works in “strict ssl mode” which means they do not accept self signed certificates.
I have asked my host and they say its not possible for them to install a certficate that gmail accepts.
Is this a normal practice with other hosts? Do you use gmail pop3 checker with your shared hosting accounts?
