IPv4 shortage biting

Big on Hosting. Unlimited Space & Unlimited Bandwidth

I’m looking for a new (VPS) host for a couple of eCommerce sites, and I’ve noticed that it’s becoming more common for providers not to offer additional IPv4 addresses. VPS offerings from Hetzner and DigitalOcean for example have only a single IP address available and no plans to offer more.

Instead, they suggest using SNI using nginx as a reverse proxy
(e.g. https://www.digitalocean.com/communi…-for-a-droplet) but that’s not going to work for any visitors still using Windows XP and IE, which seems unacceptable to me.

Multiple smaller cloud instances is an alternative, but that gets expensive because a minimum amount of RAM is needed to run the OS.

There are other hosting companies still offering additional IPs at the moment but the choices are diminishing. Looks like the IPv4 shortage is finally beginning to bite.
