I signed up for KomodoSites a few months ago now because they offered CloudLinux, LiteSpeed, SSD and SNI support. A week ago now, they decided to do other things and sold their customers to InternetDrive.ca. After seeing how InternetDrive differs from KomodoSites, I noticed alot of things do. I contacted both KomodoSites and InternetDrive to ask what’s going to be changing. I recieved one truthful response and the other response was full of lies. Here’s the questions I asked:

Quote:

1. Will my website still be hosted on CloudLinux with LiteSpeed and on pure SSD?
2. Will I need to purchase a dedicated IP address for my SSL certificate?
3. Will it be backed up via Idera?
4. Will the price be changing?
5. Are you 100% sure (and not lying)?

This is InternetDrive`s (the new company) response:

Hi Nick,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us, here are some answers to your concerns.

1. We have a different infrastructure, so we don’t offer everything that komodosites do such as CloudLinux, ssd. We don’t really need to, we monitor our servers, fine tune them and do not over sell them. They run as well and probably better than most hosting companies out there.

2. Yes if you do not have a dedicated ip you will need one for a ssl (we usually get ssl certs from a third party who requires this).

3. We currently have a different backup system, we have been working with our providers to implement R1 backups and hope this will be in place this year.

4. The price and the plans will remain the same, we will not be changing them.

5. Am I 100% sure of what exactly, my answers? Yes I am.

I hope this answers your questions, please feel free to email me anytime.

And this was KomodoSite`s (the old company) response:

Hello Nick,

Our sincerely apologies, we have been overwhelmed with a high number of requests due to the acquisition.

1. Will my website still be hosted on CloudLinux with LiteSpeed and on pure SSD?

This is currently undetermined but InternetDrive has promised to offer a service that is still cPanel based with all the basic features. The level of performance and stability will be better than what KomodoSites has to offer. They fully manage their own hardware and datacenter.

2. Will I need to purchase a dedicated IP address for my SSL certificate?

No, a dedicated IP is not needed since they are running cPanel which supports SNI.

3. Will it be backed up via Idera?

They have an off-site remote backups solution but Idera was not specified.

4. Will the price be changing?

You will continue to pay the same price for your current package, it will be grandfathered by InternetDrive.

5. Are you 100% sure (and not lying)?

Based on all the details provided, this is what I assume is true.

After seeing that KomodoSite said InternetDrive should be able to offer SNI support, I asked them about that. InternetDrive said that they don`t and (because of their upstream provider) I would need to purchase a dedicated IP address. Maybe it`s me, but from KomodoSite`s answer, they make it sound like offering CloudLinux with LiteSpeed and SSD is “undetermined” meaning they’re looking into it? Which also isn’t true because they have no plans on offerring it.

I’m just frustrated that KomodoSite’s has seemed to turn their back on their customers and all of a sudden I have to go with InternetDrive, purchase a dedicated IP address and hope they don’t increase the price on me. I guess it could be worse and they could’ve just pulled the plug and all of their customers would end up with nothing.
