Limitations of a host’s tech support?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently with and have questions regarding the limitations of a host’s tech support; to which extent is it supposed to go?

It is important that the content is secure, though what is unclear is who (customer or host) is responsible for what.
I’ve been disapointed with tech support in the past, and if I can find a host that can assist well in cases where security is breached, I’m sure to interested.

Case in point: a WordPress plugin is insecure and is opening doors to hackers.

Will the host assist in finding out what the problem is? Or could they just say “well your account is hacked, fix it” ?

Do some hosts assist further with the problem by letting you know which plugin is causing problems?

I could certainly appreciate a host that would.
