My 1&1 Review

Big on Hosting. Unlimited Space & Unlimited Bandwidth

im pretty mad right now, so ill try to just doing pros and cons.

Its cheap

1. Make sure you you figure out that Basic package and Basic Windows Package is two different things. One is linux, the other is windows.

2. Documentation on how to do ANYTHING with them is ****ing horrible.

3. Support: Rude and incompetent. I asked technical support if there was a way to drop the ****** custom panel and use CPANEL instead, his response was “What is cpanel”..Also dont bother emailing support. They dont respond.

4. One click builder is useless, if you have a windows package, they dont offer it. Its not that they CANT offer it, its that they think it runs better on linux, so they WONT offer it.

5. No email was sent that has your FTP information, user name, anything. When you log in to the FTP. its a bunch of random folders, to install anything manually, you have to setup everything yourself manually, including a working directory to install joomla, or anything of that sort. Then you have to point your domain, manually, to make sure it reads that folder.

This all happened within about 2 hours, and i cancelled. If you are wanting something as easy as hostgator or even godaddy, DO NOT USE 1&1. They have horrid documentation, most of it assumes you have already done OTHER steps to get to that point. biggest waste of money and time in my life.

I suggest hostgator.
