Need to switch but no idea where to start.

Big on Hosting. Unlimited Space & Unlimited Bandwidth

Hi All,

I need some help/advice on switching my hosting provider but don’t know where to start looking. I’m a freelance website designer who also hosts websites for many of my clients, I have around 140 sites. Most are fairly small local sites with low traffic however I have around 5 sites which receive quite heavy traffic and are frequently causing problems on my existing setup. Around half of my sites are WordPress powered. At the moment I have 2 Managed VPS’ one containing my heavy traffic sites and another containing everybody else. I could upgrade to one of their dedicated servers but I’m reluctant to continue using them.

Current specs of my main VPS (other VPS is similar just less bandwidth and disk space):

  • Disk Space: 100 GB
  • Monthly Bandwidth: 500 GB
  • Dedicated Memory: 2.5 GB
  • Swap Memory: 5 GB
  • CPU: 12 Cores (2 x Priority)

My main issue isn’t the quality of my current providers servers or their reliability (most issues seem to be caused by my clients rather than server glitches/errors). My main gripe is that support time can vary a lot and the only way of contacting them is via an email ticket system (an online web chat is occasionally working and answered). Response time can vary from 5 minutes to over an hour (on average it’s around 20 minutes. I pay around £150/month in total. Because everything is managed I have limited control which is becoming increasingly frustrating and there seems to be little accountability their end to issues caused by them.

Anyway I guess my basic requirements are:

1. UK based.
2. Telephone/online chat support.
3. Quality/Reliability.
4. Dedicated sever with level of control.
5. Minimum 750GB/month bandwidth and 120/GB disk space
6. WHM/Cpanel
7. Max budget would be £250/month although could stretch to more if essential.
8. CloudLinux (or similar)

Am I asking for too much on that budget?

Apologies for long email!

Thanks in advance,

James
