Nginx Remote Proxy Server

Big on Hosting. Unlimited Space & Unlimited Bandwidth

I have a webserver that has approx 3tb of data on it, for various reasons the server is hosted in a private location (with good data access)

I’m looking to proxy a website on this server onto another server. This way I can grant access for that one remote server, over a specific port. And still keep the server at the private location.

The website (actually a series of sites on sub-domains) uses approx 500Gb of bandwidth a month, and according to the analytic receives 35000 pages views of mixed html\png\jpg. These figures are however likely to grow.

To me this looks like a good situation to use nginx on either a vps, or a small dedicated server.

The data itself doesn’t actually change much and is most historical hence the 3tb stored, and 500gb bandwidth. So ideally I’d like to cache as much a possible, to speed up access.

Firstly is what I’m thinking possible? and what sort of minimum spec would I need to maintain a decent performance on the website.

Thanks in Advance
