Optimal Performance? DNS + CDN + Server

Big on Hosting. Unlimited Space & Unlimited Bandwidth

How do all of the different website factors add up together? What I mean is, there’s DNS, the server, a CDN, a cache plugin (e.g. W3 Total Cache), and Google PageSpeed Service.

Can all of these be combined for super performance? Or is there a lot of redundant overlap between them?

I’m planning on using Edgecast DNS (supposedly the fastest DNS available) + an SSD VPS from KnownHost + W3 Total Cache plugin + Google PageSpeed… on my WordPress site.

Would I get any performance benefits by adding a CDN (either Amazon or Edgecast) into the mix?
