Poor Experiance with Limehost.in

Big on Hosting. Unlimited Space & Unlimited Bandwidth

I hate that this is my first post, but I just wanted to share my experience.

I signed up for Limehost.in’s shared package Aug. 31st – package was super cheap (I should have known better). Discounted to $7.50 a year – I am running a site for a non-profit community group and the hosting cost is coming out of my pocket. I didn’t expect anything great for that price but nearly everything that could have happened has happened over the weekend.

Within a few minutes of my domain being propagated, the site was hacked. Yeah — this happens, not a big deal.

Next day, server does down — contact them — they said planned scheduled maintenance (I wasn’t aware of it — still a bit annoyed). They said they were adding a hard drive and more memory.

Server comes back hours later (maybe 5 or 6) — and all the data is wiped. I contact them, ask what’s going on? Apparently they had a drive failure – they said they’d “try” to recover the data. Oh fun – I guess it wasn’t scheduled upgrades. I made some back ups the day before not a huge deal.

The next day I figure I’ll try and get the site back going again. Can’t ping my domain. Can access cpanel with the IP they gave me for pre-propagation and I’m getting errors all over the place within cpanel itself. Put in yet another ticket and they said they’ve corrected it now.

At this point I’ve decided to cut my losses, as per their TOS I’ve requested a refund and will move my domain elsewhere.

I really wanted this to work out. I’m not one to complain too much (especially at this price), I just didn’t expect this to be my weekend.
