My website was hosted on stablehost’s shared hosting server. Though the traffic hasn’t gone up significantly (4K-5K page views per day), my account started hitting the maximum limit of the resources. [I am not running wordpress or any other CMS. It’s very simpe php & mysql based code tested on my personal Pentium machine]
I was happy with stablehost because I didn’t have any downtime and website was running smoothly. But because of resource limit (just 10 entry process) of shared hosting of stablehost, I was left with two options – upgrade to stablehost’s enterprise plan OR look for other host who allows more resources and better hardware. Enterprise plan of stablehost starts at $19.99/month and I didn’t want to spend $19.99 for such small traffic website. So, I started looking for shared hosting offers on WHT and stopped my search at Ethernet Servers (ethernetservers.com) based on my chat with Dominic from Ethernet Servers.
I really wanted to see if Ethernet Servers can handle more than 5K pageviews a day, so I started with quarterly plan of their business package [because of coupon present on WHT,I stuck a good deal].
After moving my domain to their server, I had a few hiccups because of PHP version and firewall setup. Many thanks to George who really helped me in resolving all the issues.
Sales: 10/10 [They provided all the details I needed to determine if I am choosing a right host]
Hardware: 9/10 – Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz with ample RAM [ Check the CPU benchmark here – http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?…70+%40+3.40GHz ]
Support: 10/10 [I think they work during GMT time, but I got answers of all my queries within 30 mins during GMT nighttime and within 15 minutes during GMT daytime. They are very knowledgeable and always eager to give the best solutions to the customers. They did change the firewall setting to accommodate the requirements of my website as I use third party website to generate sitemap. They also provided the best I/O usage limit (4Mb/s), entry processes (25), number of processes (100) and I think there are a few hosting companies which allow such resource limits for shared environment]
Speed/Server response: 10/10 [When my site was on stablehost, pingdom was showing response time 550-590ms. But after moving to Ethernet Servers (ethernetservers.com), pingdom shows 215-230ms.So, around 60% improvement in response time compared to stablehost. My site is hosted on UK server. Pingdom speed test shows load time 900ms – 1.2s from NL, 1.5s-2.5s from Texas and NY. More than 100% improvement in speed compare to stablehost. The response time of my website is super-fast from India which is main traffic location of my site.]
Uptime: 10/10 [So far no downtime as per pingdom]
It has been around 10 days and I am extremely happy with my decision to move my website to Ethernet Servers (ethernetservers.com) and would recommend them over all my previous hosts.
Website is in my signature (Directory to listen non-stop music)
