I’ve been running a gaming website for the past 3 years now but we’ve hit a bit of a wall in regards to hosting.
Until recently we used shared hosting with GoDaddy but found it to be incredibly unreliable during traffic spikes. Loading times upward of 10 seconds and even just inaccessible on many occasions.
We’ve since switched to Site 5’s shared hosting but again, website is loading incredibly slowly and our traffic is quite low at the moment, I’m concerned a spike would cause it to implode.
Average Daily Traffic: 10,000 Visitors (daily)
Spike Traffic: 50,000 – 150,000 (daily, during busy times)
I’ve searched around and I’m at a loss. I have no experience with VPS servers so paying for one I’d have to manage myself would probably cause more damage than good and I’m not even close to being able to afford $200+ a month for a VPS.
I’d really appreciate any help/advice. From what I’ve seen so far we either bite the bullet and endure slow loading and downtime, or pay 3-4x what the site earns just in case we spike.
